How To Brush Your Teeth Properly Using an Electric Toothbrush
“Your smile is the window of your soul.”
We frequently see celebrities with amazing smiles while watching shows and movies. Oral hygiene is an essential aspect of our overall health. Since we were toddlers, we have been taught how to brush our teeth. Brushing our teeth is also trained in schools.
We brush our teeth three times a day to avoid tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. Being healthy and clean gives us the courage to be more confident. It allows us to be socially, mentally, and physically in a good state.
To maintain our dental hygiene, we clean our teeth with the use of a toothbrush.
There are 2 Categories of Toothbrushes: Manual Toothbrush and Electric Toothbrush
What is the difference between these two brushes?
A manual toothbrush is a toothbrush that we usually use to brush our teeth by manually moving around. An electric toothbrush is a battery that allows the bristles to move quickly while cleaning our teeth. It is said that the use of an electric toothbrush is better than using a manual toothbrush. Although manual toothbrushes are way cheaper, buying an electric toothbrush is a good investment. According to the Dental Health Organization, 2 out of 3 adults use electric toothbrushes nowadays.
In this write-up, we will mainly focus on adequately using an electric toothbrush for brushing our teeth. Using an electric toothbrush makes our lives easier since we don’t have to move our arms or hands as often, but it also allows us to have cleaner and healthier gums.
Before learning how to use an electric toothbrush properly, visiting and consulting your dentist is critical.
An electric toothbrush works with the use of a battery. With the help of the battery, it allows the bristles of the toothbrush to vibrate and rotate to remove plaque in our teeth. There are electric toothbrushes that are either rechargeable or batteries can be changed.
Here are the steps to how we can adequately brush our teeth with an electric toothbrush:
Step 1
Make sure that you have all your necessities for brushing your teeth, including your electric toothbrush, toothpaste, your glass of water (for rinsing your mouth after brushing), and your mouthwash (optional).
Step 2
Pick up your electric toothbrush.
Step 3
Slowly put an ample amount of toothpaste on your electric toothbrush.
Step 4
Start brushing your teeth on the outer surface of your teeth. You can start by cleaning each of your teeth. Move the toothbrush along the gums slowly while holding it horizontally.
Step 5
After cleaning each of your teeth on the outer surface of your teeth, you may now clean the inner part of your teeth. The same goes for Step 4. You may clean each of your teeth and move your hand along the tooth’s inner surface.
Step 6
After cleaning the inner surface of your teeth, you may now proceed to the chewing surface of your teeth. You can clean your teeth too, one by one. You may include brushing the back of your molars.
Step 7
You can now proceed to clean your tongue and upper gums.
Step 8
This step is optional since not everyone uses mouthwash. Use your mouthwash as your final rinse for 30-60 seconds.
(Reminder: it is essential to remember that you are no longer using a manual toothbrush and, hence, do not need to brush harder or move your brush differently.)
To maintain good hygiene, it is best to clean the electric toothbrush after use. You may start rinsing your electric toothbrush after using it with clean water, detach the toothbrush’s head, and rinse it separately. Allow your electric toothbrush to dry using a dry and clean cloth or towel.
Here are some of the benefits of using an Electric Toothbrush:
– It helps you save money. It may be pricey, but it doesn’t require you to buy a new toothbrush twice or thrice a year.
– It makes you exert less effort
– It is way more effective in removing plaque in our teeth.
– It is less harmful to the gums
– It is fun and exciting to use
Dentists favor electric toothbrushes because of the vibration and fast-moving bristles that clean the teeth better. Buying an electric toothbrush is a good investment. Using an electric toothbrush helps you stay clean and sanitized. But what’s more important is to be disciplined and patient when cleaning your teeth. It is still essential to visit your dentist twice a year for general check-ups.
